All of the members of Solid Ground have extensive backgrounds in music and ministry. Jeff Johnson is the tenor and manager for Solid Ground. He was raised in a musical household.  Jeff was bit by the musical bug as he tagged along with the group his family were members of, The Descendents, who traveled throughout the state of California every weekend. Jeff has been a member of The Descendents, Sonrise, The Lighthouse Boys, and 4 His Love, all regional groups in California.  He spent a year and a half traveling full time with The Southmen, based in Hueytown, Alabama. At some point in Jeff’s musical history, he has sung tenor, baritone & lead and he has also played bass & the drums.

Jeff and his wife, Rhonda have two children, Megan and Jayden.

Rick Gentry

After over 15 years out of the Southern Gospel music saddle and not singing for over seven years, Rick Gentry is getting back on the horse again with Solid Ground. He is beyond excited to do so!

As a very young man, Rick started his musical career in 1975 with the renowned Southern California group, The Crownsmen Quartet. Over the next 30 years, he sang with a variety of groups and worship teams, including a short stint with the popular and well-known Watchmen Quartet. Upon moving from Southern California to Oroville, Rick embarked on the solo/band season of his life, performing rock and blues in evangelistic crusades/festivals in Northern California. Rick finally “retired” from music to be a stay-at-home father/husband.

Rick lives in Butte County with his wife Beverly and has three children and two grandchildren. He also has five children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who are quadrupedal.
